H.E. Frech III (Ted Frech) is Professor of Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  He is a former chair of the department and currently director of the M.A. program.  He is also Adjunct Professor at Sciences Po de Paris and adjunct scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.  He has served on the faculty at Harvard University and at the University of Chicago.  He earned his Ph.D. (1974) and M.A. (1970) in Economics at UCLA and his B.S. in Industrial Engineering (1968) at the University of Missouri.

 

Professor Frech has published over 100 articles and books.  His research has ranged over a wide variety of topics in industrial organization, antitrust, health economics, public policy, the tort system, mergers, market definition, predatory pricing, and health insurance. Prof. Frech has consulted for private and public organizations.  He has testified in federal and state courts, state legislatures, state and federal regulatory bodies and in the U.S. Congress.
